La SABHIX (Société des amis de la Bibliothèque et de l'Histoire de l'Ecole polytechnique) s'est associée et soutient le colloque international organisé à Nantes les 15, 16 et 17 janvier 2009 en l'honneur de Gabriel Lamé, polytechnicien, ingénieur des mines, mathématicien français du XIX° siècle.

Il y a 150 ans paraissaient les Leçons sur les coordonnées curvilignes et leurs diverses applications (1859) de Gabriel Lamé (1795-1870), ouvrage dans lequel cet ingénieur, professeur, mathématicien et physicien appelait à « l'avènement futur d'une science rationnelle unique ».
